Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas can provide the
skilled and trained employees your business requires. By contracting
with local
training providers and educational institutions, Workforce Solutions
identifies potential employees for your company and prepares them
with the specific skills needed to succeed.
When Parkland Memorial Hospital recognized the need for Licensed
Vocational Nurses, they turned to Workforce Solutions. Together with E&K
Nursing, Workforce Solutions created a program to train and certify Dallas-area
residents for LVN positions, giving Parkland the skilled workers
they needed. And since most training is funded through state and
federal funds already allocated to Dallas County for workforce development,
there was no cost to the hospital.
In 1997, Workforce Solutions administered the WIA program through multiple
providers to train some professions in demand including nurses,
computer programmers and customer service representatives. Some
examples are:
- E&K Nursing Programs trained 247 licensed vocational nurses,
home health aids and medical records personnel.
- At Eastfield College, 60 persons learned computer bookkeeping
and skills needed to work at a computer help desk.
- El Centro College trained 14 disabled persons in computer programming.
- E.J. Kahn JTC trained 232 persons in the areas of medical records,
computer accounting and customer service.
Additional WIA programs trained 383 workers older than 55. In the
summer of 1997, the summer youth program trained 2,871 students
ages 16 to 21. The total number of persons trained and employed
in 1997 was 2,753.
