Rod Cuevas

Since 2008, Rod Cuevas is the Organizer and Assistant Business Representative for the Teamsters Local Union 745.    He was a Dockman and Driver at ABF Freight fromr 2003-2008, Assistant Steward at ABF Freight for five years, Chief Organizer from 2007-2008, and Assistant Organizer-Teamsters Local 745 from 2006-2007.  Rod attended Eastfield Community College.

 

Jay Fox

Baylor Health Care System

 

 

 

Jay Fox is a member of the Senior Leadership Team for the Baylor Health Care System, Dallas, Texas, and is President of Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie, a hospital dedicated to providing technologically advanced medical care closer to home for residents of southern Dallas County and beyond.  Fox has been with the Baylor Health Care System for 15 years.  He previously served as executive director of Our Children’s House (OCH) at Baylor in Dallas and as vice president of operations for Baylor Specialty Health Centers.  Under his leadership, OCH planned a $13.6 million expansion of the facility to include additional patient beds and therapy space, an outpatient surgery center and a physician’s clinic.
He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is immediate past president of the board of directors for the Children’s Hospitals & Related Institutions of Texas.  He is a 1999 graduate of Leadership Dallas, where he now serves as chair of the alumni association.  He is active in the Make-a-Wish Foundation and serves on the Citizen’s Advisory Board for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) as well as the board of directors for the Dallas Summer Musicals, the Next Generation of Philanthropists, and Special Care and Career Services.
In 2006, Fox was a nominee for the Young Healthcare Executive of the Year Award and also was chosen as one of the Dallas Business Journal’s “40-Under-40.”  He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Business Administration degree from Baylor University.

 

Elaine Lantz

NOLSW/UAW Local 2320

Since 2000, Elaine Lantz is the Union Organizer at the NOLSW/UAW Local 2320 in Dallas.  Elaine negotiates union collective bargaining agreements, processes grievances, and conducts arbitration.  From 1997-2000, she was a Clerk at the US Postal Service in Dallas and some of her duties were to organize, prepare, and maintain records of various classes of mail, leave and FMLA usage, and track productivity records.  Then from 1993-1997, Elaine was a Legal Assistant at John Wheat Gibson, P.C. and Roberts & Smaby, P.C., where she prepared schedules and drafted pleadings for Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases and attended weekly creditors’ meetings with clients at the Chapter 13 Trustee’s office. Elaine is also involved with Jobs with Justice, which organizes actions around issues involving unions, civil rights, community and church groups, and provides support for unions organizing and negotiating contracts. Elaine has a Bachelor of Arts, with a major in Sociology and a minor in Education from Brooklyn College and an Associates Degree in Spanish from Pace University. 



 

Martha Stowe

Vickery Meadow Youth Development Foundation


 

 

   

Martha Stowe is the Executive Director of the Vickery Meadow Youth Development Foundation since 2007.  The Foundation works to provide a great community for children to develop to their full potential. From 1999-2007, Martha was the Director at the Injury Prevention Center (IPC) of Greater Dallas.  This center works to reduce injuries and deaths to make Dallas a safe place to live, work, play, and visit.  It also works with over 150 agencies to develop coalitions, programs, and other interventions to reduce injuries in Dallas County.   The IPC has won such awards as the World Health Organization (WHO) Safe Community Designation, US Department of Transportation Safe Community Award, and the Allstate Safety Award.  Martha also served from 1985-1995 as the Director of Community Ministries and Outreach in the Presbyterian Healthcare System, where she created the community health outreach program for the hospital system.  Martha holds a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Kansas, and a Masters Certificate in Dispute Resolution from SMU.
