- Labor market information
- Access to telephones, fax machines, computers, copies and resume
writing software
- Job search workshops and seminars
Additional services are available for individuals who qualify under
various government programs, including:
Employment Services: Access to a network
of information and services. Job seekers can connect directly to
employers and may receive job referrals and interviews.
Workforce Investment Act (WIA): Focuses
on the "Work first" philosophy. WIA offers re-employment
services for disadvantaged youths and adults, those unemployed due
to downsizing and those lacking competitive job skills. WIA also
offers year-round youth services, short-term prevocational services,
job placement assistance, and skills enhancement.
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF):
Offers counseling, job readiness training, support services, assessment
of skills and abilities, individual case management, education and
training services, and intensive work search for those attempting
to move toward independence from public assistance due to time limited
benefits.
Food Stamps Employment and Training (FSE&T)
Program: Assist Food Stamp recipients to obtain employment
by providing counseling, individual case management, job readiness
training, transportation assistance and intensive work search to
move them toward becoming employed and self-sufficient.
Job Corps: Referral to basic skills
training and vocational education programs for at-risk youth ages
16 to 24.
Veterans Employment Services: Employment
and training opportunities for veterans.
Re-Integration Services: Placement,
counseling and case management services to persons on parole, thereby
enabling them to obtain suitable employment and reenter society
in a productive capacity.
Resource Room: Job databases, computers,
internet access, phones, faxes, copiers, resource materials and
personal assistance to help job seekers obtain employment.
Older Workers Program: Special employment
and training programs for individuals age 55 and older who meet
income guidelines.
Unemployment Insurance Benefits: Benefits
paid to qualified individuals who are unemployed through no fault
of their own. Click
