September 23rd was no ordinary Tuesday for high school students across Dallas County. Texas Career Day, funded by the Texas Workforce Commission, at the Curtis Culwell Center was an energizing, hands-on introduction to the world of careers, possibilities, and future employers.

It was a day built around connection, discovery, and inspiration.

Exploring Career Pathways, One Booth at a Time

Dozens of employers from across all industries were present at the event. Among those were tech companies, construction firms, healthcare providers, creative agencies, and more—each offering insights into their fields and the opportunities they hold for young talent.

With sponsors like Ferrovial and Westlink Academy, the event highlighted employers who believe in investing in the future of the workforce.

“Events like these allow our company to reach the next generation of talent,” said Ebenzer Allen, CEO of Westlink Academy. “They have a lot to bring to employers and help us stay ahead of the times.”

Hands-On Learning

Career Day was built for interaction. Students used virtual reality headsets to explore real-world work environments, struck a pose in the 360° photo booth, and asked thoughtful questions that could shape their next steps.

The air buzzed with curiosity and excitement as students met potential mentors, learned about internship and apprenticeship programs, and began imagining life beyond graduation.

Dress the Part: Fashion Meets Professionalism

A highlight of the event, students from Dallas College Fashion Marketing hosted a professional fashion show—but this wasn’t your typical runway. It was a live demonstration of how to dress for success.

From business casual to interview-ready looks, students walked the runway to model not just clothing, but confidence. The show also offered practical tips on how to make a lasting impression at employer events.

Why Texas Career Day Matters

Events like Texas Career Day are more than just a glimpse into the future—they’re a jumpstart. For many students, it was their first opportunity to have conversations with employers and see the options available to them.
