On July 31, the Texas Workforce Commission(TWC), Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas (WFSDallas), and Dallas College co-hosted the Ready, Set, Hired! National Intern Day Conference at the Cedar Valley Campus of Dallas College. Part of the statewide Texas Intern Network conference series, the event was designed to connect young professionals with tools and opportunities to support their long-term career success.
Interns from across the Dallas area participated in a day filled with interactive experiences, including mock interviews, free professional headshots, and networking sessions. The conference featured a keynote address from guest speaker Micah Autry, whose remarks energized and encouraged the audience of early-career professionals.
A panel discussion brought together both employers and interns to share their perspectives on internship experiences. Employers discussed the value of investing in emerging talent, while interns reflected on how internships have helped shape their goals and skills.
“Opportunities like these allow young professionals to have the necessary tools and knowledge to meet employer needs,” said Ashlee Verner, Interim President of Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas.
TWC Commissioner Representing Employers Joe Esparza emphasized the broader impact of internships, stating, “The Texas Workforce Commission recognizes that internships aren’t just beneficial for students, they’re also a powerful talent pipeline for Texas businesses. By providing hands-on learning opportunities, employers can actively shape the skills and experience of future employees.”
The event was part of a continued effort to strengthen the connection between education, career development, and Texas employers.
